Town Council ($5000 plus in kind ) Howard County ($2500) Lions Club ( $200) Greentown Family Church (?) and Main Street has set aside $1444 for this grant.

A copy of the pictures of the wayfinding signs was passed around. At the present time there is money pledged for 4 signs but it is possible that we could raise enough for 6 signs. Cost per sign is $4100 each which includes the post and planting. All signs on 22/35 have to meet INDOT standards and Clifford Sign in Kokomo has been approved to make our signs.

A question was asked “If we only get 4 of the signs how do you chose which 4? The reply was “We hope to get all 6 of the signs funded”

Jolene reported that she has turned in the first quarterly report to OCRA
  • Town Beautification - Jolene reported the tentative date of the second weekend in May for planting flowers has been set. Flowers will be planted at the stop light, the town sign, the trail head, the city building and triangle park.
Rachel reported that INDOT is doing a roadside clean up for two lane highways on April 13-15. This would include safety training, vests etc. It would be good especially just west of the bridge before you come into town. This area gets a lot of thrown out and blown in trash.

Economic Vitality - Mark Lantz - Chairman.

Mark met with a few business owners on March 19 at Main Occassions Catering. It was a good meeting. Main Occassions donated the food. They discussed the revitalization Plan, Grants availability, Promotions of each other and greeting out guests from out of town among other topics.

They plan to meet on a quarterly basis, the next meeting will be Monday June 18. This meeting is stressing the importance of being organized when they start tearing up 22/35.

Century Villa had their open house. There was a lot of community support. They have a meeting room that is available for meetings and events.

Heartland Market has an awning coming but it is not in yet.

Dirt and Turf could be moving into Brad Howell Ford's Greentown Building when they move into Kokomo.

Mark suggested that we patronize our local businesses as much as possible.

It was suggested that several get together and eat at a local restaurant as a group. Be sure to mention that you are a part of Main Street.

Promotion

Music At The Fountain – July 26-Sept 13 7:00 PM. Regina Poe mentioned that Century Villa is working on getting a band and possibly having a youth band talent show. How many teenage bands are in Greentown? Is there any interest in this activity? They are looking at June 22. Maybe food or crafts available? Mark suggested that Regina reach out to Tom Johnson at the school. He might be able to help her. Teenagers on social media might be the best promotion of this event.

New Business – Quick Impact Grant information was sent to all members. This grant is thru OCRA for small projects with a 50% grant.

Comments – Triangle Park, the intersection of Carter, Hammer & Grant streets, should be lined with spring flower bulbs. This is a historic intersection. It use to be where the toll booth for the toll road into Kokomo stood and some of the foundation is still there.

The Community Foundation has grants available with specific dates to apply.
